What we do
GetExactAmount is a set of free calculators for renovation, building and landscaping projects. You enter your measurements; we work out the material, add a sensible amount for waste, and round up to the boxes, bags, cans, sheets or rolls sold in stores.
Every result shows the formula and the assumptions behind it, a cost range if you add a price, common mistakes to avoid, and what else you will need for the job.
Who it is for
- Homeowners and renters planning a DIY project.
- Contractors and handymen who need a quick, shareable quantity for a client.
- Anyone standing in a store aisle wondering whether to buy one more box.
Where it works
The site is in US English and works in imperial and metric units, with prices in US, Canadian and Australian dollars, pounds and euros. Pack sizes follow the currency you choose, so a UK result uses 25 kg bags and 2.5 L tins, and a US result uses 50 lb bags and gallons.
How it is built
Everything runs in your browser. There is no account, no server that stores your numbers, and no cookies. Read how the calculations work and our editorial standards.
